The Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), Hyderabad approved the RAT (The Rapid Antigen Test) coviself home testing kit on Wednesday.

In this test, any individual can test themselves at home with out any medical assistance. The old thing they need is the nasal swab.

Symptomatic patients and immediate contacts to them should take this home testing. ICMR said ‘Indiscriminate testing is not advised. The users need to follow the instructions written in the manual given by the manufacturer’.

How to Use Coviself Home testing kit?

Firstly, the users must download the ‘mylab’ app on their mobile and fill in their credentials. It is compulsory for all the users to down load this app.

This app is available on Google play store and Apple store. This mobile app is a comprehensive guide for the testing procedures. Moreover, it provides a positive or negative test result to the patient.

Secondly, after the tests, the user should take a picture of the test strip. However, this picture should be taken from the same mobile which was used to down load the app. This data is saved in a centrally captured server.

According to the ICMR, the data captured is connected to the ICMR-COVID-19 portal which is stored eventually. However, ICMR added that the ‘Patient confidentiality will be maintained fully.’

Undoubtedly, individuals who tested positive with the RAT test need not repeat the test again. They should take the RT-PCR test. All the negative cases are treated as suspected COVID-19 cases.
