Kerala boat accident: At least 22 people died, rescue op on

In a tragic incident, at least 22 people died in a boat accident where a double-decker boat overturned in the Malappuram district, of Kerala, ANI reported. The incident happened near Tuvalthiram Beach in Malappuram on Sunday evening at around 7 pm.

Prior to the incident, The NDRF, fire, and Scuba diving team started their search operations and the rescuers were joined to the nearest hospital for better treatment.

According to resources, most of the passengers were children as it was a Sunday during the summer holidays. The boat was sailing after the stipulated deadline of 5 p.m. when it drowned around 7 p.m. During the time of the incident, it is estimated that the boat is running with 30-40 passengers in it.
