Karnataka Elections: After a fierce campaign from Janata Dal (Secular), Congress, and BJP, On Wednesday the voting for 224 assembly seats in Karnataka has finally begun. The results of this election will be out on 13th May.
According to PTI reports, Karnataka has a voter turnout of 20.9% as of 11 a.m. This percentage will stake up by the evening. The coastal district of Udupi had the highest rate (13.28 percent), while Chamarajanagar district had the lowest (5.75 percent),
The three main political parties participating are the BJP, the Congress, and the JD(S). To form a government in Karnataka, a party should win at least 113 seats. Tough competition prevails between Congress and BJP at the polling stations.
As per The Mint reports, the total no.of voters eligible to cast their votes is 5,31,33,054. No. of polling stations in the state is 58,545.
Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi has called for high poll participation in Karnataka, while the Congress party has asked voters to ‘vote wisely’.
