Coronavirus: 1.45 Lakh Cases In India So Far, 4,167 Deaths

India has left behind Iran and China and reached the tenth most affected country by the pandemic after the United States, Brazil, Russia, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, France, Germany.

The nationwide tally of coronavirus cases has 1.45 lakh after a record number of 6,535 people tested positive for the deadly virus infection in the last 24 hours in india, The total cases in the country stood at 1,45,380, including 4,167 deaths, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.

While badly-hit Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Delhi continued to report large numbers of positive cases, states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Jharkhand have seen their COVID-19 cases rise.

The increase in the number of cases in India comes amid relaxations by the government, two months after a countrywide lockdown was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 24.
