The Narendra Modi-led BJP government completes it 7 years in power this week. Right from economy to the mishandling of COVID-19, people are disappointed with the BJP led government.
India has reached a saturation point after bearing a Prime Minister who is not able to come out of his Ideological beliefs.
We can see that this government worked hard only to keep up its power and expand its power to all the states in the country.
From Uttar Pradesh to Assam, BJP spread its wings only to grow dominant and show its control through out the country. The main politics played by the duo Modi-Shah. Meanwhile, the Indian National Congress, the main opposition is still living in a trance of its past history.
Indian Economy
The Indian economy however, ranked to its worst performance in these seven years. This is when compared to the era of early 1990’s.
India is way behind than many other economies of South Asia. There is little hope for any chances of a powerful economy in the near future.
Unemployment
India’s unemployment rate reached all time high of 23%, the worst among all the developing countries. The annual GDP performance crashed to -8.0% in 2020.

COVID-19
India stands at 212 in fatality per million population, regarding the COVID-19. It is according to the statistics taken in May 2021.
Despite the under reporting of deaths across the country. Ironically, India claims to be the world’s biggest vaccine producers.
Democracy
In these seven years democracy is taken for a toss by the BJP government. The actual ‘isolation’ started right in the first term of Modi government of all the institutions in our country.
The CBI, NIA and the Judiciary became mere puppets in their hands. By the second term, all the institutions are in ‘lockdown’ and struggling for existence.
The Parliamentary System.
India is the known as the largest democratic country in the world. Unfortunately, the administration and the policies of Modi government are contrary to the parliamentary system. Subsequently, the standing committees of the Parliament have no work now.
Basically, these committees monitor the functioning of the government. However, they are in silence mode since the second wave of the pandemic.
Moreover, the Prime Minister is an expert in conducting virtual meetings but not a single time did he allow the functioning of the Parliament. He could have done it through virtual platforms. This shows the respect they hold for Democracy.
In the seven years of Modi government , the Bill in the Parliament are passed by force and not by vote. A Bill is passed even without the consent of the opposition. Even worse is that the information also is not given to anyone about the Bill.
Important decisions regarding CAA, NRC and many more are taken by the ruling party without consulting any committees or the consent of the opposition.
Freedom of Speech
Social activists, dissenters and environmentalists have no room for freedom of speech. They are imprisoned without any mercy. As a result, anyone who speaks against the government is termed as an Anti-National.
Journalists and student leaders are arrested for petty reasons. Additionally, the government tries to suppress everyone through their unlawful activities as the law giving institutions are in their hands.
Riots and Violence
Riots and Violence is normal for this government. With the support of the police they use violence and riots to entice people and spread hatred and communal differences.
No Hope
Consequently, after seven years of Modi-Shah rule in India, people have no hope of a better future. The middle class has no faith in the functioning of the Centre.
In addition, the pandemic left them scarred for life. They lost the lives of their loved ones and livelihood. Their future lurks in sheer darkness.
