Why Resign Modi?

It is understood that people want to emit their anger through the social media platforms. The controversy reveals the involvement of the government sources. It is also alleged that the content was removed on the behest of the government. However, Face Book has denied such allegations.

This controversy rose just hours ahead of the final phase of elections in an important state. The country is in a state of outright outrage for selecting Mr. Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of India. People of India are extremely dissatisfied with the way the Modi led government handled the pandemic.

Furthermore, the government of India made new laws which would make the social media handles to remove the content which speaks against the government. This triggered an outrage among the youth. It also questioned the freedom of speech in the largest democracy of the world.

Off late, the pressure from the Indian government increased on these social media handles. Twitter had to delete or hide posts related to COVID-19. Earlier, Twitter deleted more than 500 accounts and block many social media users in India.
