TTE pushed Army Jawan from moving train, Lost both legs

The incident took place around 9.30AM, when the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express(20503) was leaving the sation following a stopover.

An Army jawan lost his legs and has been hospitalised in a critical condition after a railway ticket checker(TTE) allegedly pushed him under a moving train following an argument in UP’s Bareilly Junction Railway station on Thursday, officials said.

A 29-year-old Sonu Kumar Singh, lost his both legs and is battling for life at a military hospital. He is yet to regain consciousness and is “critical”, doctors said.

The incident took place around 9.30AM, when the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express(20503) was leaving the sation following a stopover. Sonu, a resident of Balia district, boarded the train in Bareilly and was on his way to Delhi, where he is currently posted.

According to railway officials, an argument broke out between TTE and Sonu over the latter’s ticket.

An FIR has been registered under IPC section326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 307(attempt to murder) against the TTE on the complaints of Subedar Harinder Kumar Singh.

On receiving information, railway officials including GRF, RPF reached the spot and tried to pacify the matter. After an hour long chaos, the train departed from Bareilly.
