Hate speeches in India have increased after 2014. BJP is trying to control the damage but it seems to be out of its control now.

The tweets and comments of two BJP leaders’, Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal, on Prophet Muhammad triggered backlash in Islamic nations, with Qatar, Kuwait and Iran. They summoned the Indian envoy today and demanded a public apology.

Consequently, the spokesperson of the Embassy of India in Qatar said:

The Ambassador conveyed that the tweets do not, in any manner, reflect the views of the Government of India. These are the views of fringe elements.

However, the BJP suspended Nupur Sharma and expelled Naveen Kumar Jindal after pressure from Islamic countries. The BJP government also issued a statement that it respects all religions and their respected figures in the process of damage control.

The following reasons would never stop the hate speeches:

PM Modi follows hate mongers

PM Modi follows few people who openly indulge in hate-mongering and post indecent and lewd comments about women on Twitter. Even though there was an uproar about this issue still PM Modi keeps following them.

On the New Year too, PM Modi followed many such trolls on Twitter. In spite of their abuses against women and the minorities, he doesn’t condemn them or unfollow them.

This encourages the so-called nationalists to spread hatred. However, the PM did not respond  to many questions regarding this issue.

Fact checkers

According to the National Herald, the reports by the fact checker says that, ‘In last 10 years, 91% of hate crimes under Modi government 99 persons were killed and around 703 wounded. Between May 2014 and April 30, 2019, incidents related to hate crimes motivated by religious bias, across 23 states of 36 states and UTs in the country.

Provocative Anti-Muslim sloganeering

Provocative anti-Muslim sloganeering is done across India during festival processions, political rallies and screening of new patriotic movies.

Films

Films like the controversial Hindi film “Kashmir files” had been praised and promoted by the ruling BJP government. Movies are being used to spread hate as this still continues. Films like ‘Samrat Prithvraj, Adipurush’ are awaiting release with the same motive.

Culminating Hindutva groups

The latest tool in the hands of the BJP and the Sangh Parivar, is the culmination of Hindutva organizations. This platform is used  to fuel hatred and Islamophobia.

BJP led government has been doing this since eight years, now it is unable to control it.
