There was a turnout of 79.09% voters in the sixth phase of West Bengal elections held on Thursday. However, the seventh and eight phase will be held on April 26 and 29 respectively.
Amid the surge of Corona virus, the sixth phase of the West Bengal elections was held on Thursday. In the VI- phase, elections were held for 43 seats.
The polling was held in 43 constituencies in four districts. Consequently, the fate of 306 candidates will be decided in today’s polls. These 306 candidates include 27 women.
There are over 1.03 crore voters in these areas. This number includes 50.65 women and 256 transgenders. Interestingly, 70.09% of them voted today.
14,480 polling stations were designated for the sixth phase of Bengal elections. The EC said in a statement that the constituencies were monitored through web casting. Furthermore, they used drones to keep an eye on the voting procedures.
