On Monday, the Telangana Cabinet has approved ₹ 60,000 crore plan for Metro train expansion in Hyderabad city. This project is expected to be completed in 3-4 years. We are hoping that the central government will support us in this project as it did in other states. The Cabinet has discussed and taken some crucial decisions, said KTR.
State Government announced the Hyderabad Metro Rail project phase-III expansion with 6 Metro extension corridors. This includes the expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail to a total of 400 km, connecting various areas in the city.
Following are the details of the Metro Rail project Phase-III expansion
Phase-III Part A
- BHEL-Patancheruvu-Isnapur Corridor
- L.B.Nagar – Hayatnagar – Peddamberpet Corridor
- Shamshabad Junction Metro Station – Kothur – Shadnagar Corridor
- Uppal – Ghatkesar – Bibinagar Corridor
- Shamshabad Airport – Tukkuguda ORR – Maheswaram X road – Kandukur Corridor
- Tarnaka – ECIL Elevated Metro
Phase-III Part B
- ORR Metro Corridor: Entire stretch of ORR
Phase-III Part C
Elevated 2-Level Corridors:
An elevated two-level corridor (one that will be exclusively for metro rail) at the following routes.
- JBS to Tumkunta
- Paradise junction to Kandlakoya via Kompally.
The decision aims to strengthen public transportation, cater to future population needs, and elevate Hyderabad to a global city, making its transport system one of the best in the country. Minister KTR expressed confidence in obtaining Central Government’s assistance for the proposed Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion.
