Delhi: Patients died of Critical Condition, not due to lack of Oxygen says SGRH

Sir Ganga Ram Hospital says that patients died of critical condition, not due to lack of oxygen. The most famous SGRH in Delhi issued a statement on 23 April that 25 of the sickest patients died in last 24 hours. They also said that the oxygen will last for next two hours.

All the hospitals in Delhi are operating on the brink of shortage of oxygen. During these times of catastrophe of Covid-19 second wave.

Sir Ganga ram’s hospital complained of acute shortage of oxygen and said that 25 sickest patients died in the last 24 hours. The statement also said that the oxygen will last for next two hours. They said that airlifting oxygen is the only solution for the crisis.

The hospital authorities urged the state and central government to help as soon as possible. They further informed  that they were 60 more patients who were on ventilators and needed oxygen.

Later it is known that the hospital received oxygen within one hour. Unfortunately, the source from where they got oxygen is not revealed.

However, the Director of the hospital said that they 24 patients who died were critical and did not died due to lack of oxygen. All the hospitals, be it Private or Government hospitals face the same kind of shortage of oxygen.

Only critical patients died

Surprisingly, the Chairman of the hospital Dr. D.S Rana changed his version as soon as the hospital received oxygen. He said that the patients who died were critical of the COVID disease and not due to the lack of oxygen.

Moreover, he said that some people who were in their 30’s and 40’s died. He said that the severity of the COVID disease and not due to the lack of oxygen. Dr. Rana accepted that there was a shortage of oxygen. Furthermore, he said that they treated the patients manually when the pressure of the oxygen was low.

Dr. Rana also said that they have ensured that the supply of oxygen will be there on a daily basis from now on.

Response from Central and State Government

Interestingly, the chairman said that they receive 9000 cubic meters of oxygen from Inox air company. Prior to that they received a letter from the Delhi Health department regarding the supply of oxygen.

He said that the crisis arose because the gap between the supply and demand is huge. Hence they do not wish to blame the Central or the State Government for the crisis.

He further added that the Central and State Governments reacted appropriately. Hence, the problem of shortage of oxygen is solved.

In regard to his plan of action in these times of crisis, he said that he prays and expects that this kind of situation does not arise again.
