A passenger’s phone catches fire mid-air in a Dibrugarh-Delhi Indigo flight on Thursday. According to the cabin crew, they noticed smoke emanating from the mobile phone of a passenger on the flight. It created panic in the flight. However, the crew put out the fire with a fire extinguisher immediately.
According to Telangana Today, a senior director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) official confirmed the incident. He said that On Indigo A320 Neo aircraft VT-IJV operating flight 6E-2037 from Dibrugarh to Delhi reported smoke and spark from a passenger’s mobile phone on Thursday.
“A Cabin crew observed smoke a passenger’s mobile phone seated on 30C. The cabin crew extinguished the fire using a cabin fire extinguisher,” he said. There was no injury to any passenger of crew. However, the aircraft landed safely at Delhi airport, the official confirmed.
Furthermore, a spokesperson of Indigo said that a mobile phone catches fire heating up abnormally on flight 6E 2037 from Dibrugarh to Delhi. There was no harm caused to any passenger or property on board.
