Delhi Police Raids Twitter India Offices Amid ‘Manipulated Media’ Tag Row

News agency ANI reported that a team of the Delhi police Special Cell is conducting raids at the offices of Twitter India. These raids are held in three locations- Delhi and Gurugram.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra’s tweets on Toolkit by Congress was termed as ‘Manipulated Media’ by Twitter. Earlier, the police asked a clarification from Twitter regarding the ‘Manipulative media’ tag on a BJP leader’s tweet.

The Delhi Police sent a notice to Twitter India earlier. It asked for a clarification from Twitter regarding the tweet made by a BJP leader’s tweets as ‘Manipulative’

This manipulative tweet pertains to the ‘toolkit’. The BJP leaders alleged that Congress created document.  They alleged that this ‘toolkit’ was to target the government over its mishandling of the COVID-19 crisis.

“Delhi Police is enquiring into a complaint in which clarification is sought from the Twitter regarding the classification of a tweet by Sambit Patra as ‘manipulative’. It appears that Twitter has some information which is not known to us on the basis of which they have classified it as such.

The information is relevant to the inquiry. Special Cell, which is conducting the inquiry, wants to find out the truth. Twitter, which has claimed to know the underlying truth, should clarify,” the Delhi police said in a statement.
