Cyclone Mandous update: Storm weakens into deep depression by noon

The cyclone Mandous storm, rear sector of the cyclone has moved into land and lies over north coastal Tamilnadu and Puducherry. Hence landfall process is nearing completion.

The cyclonic storm weakened into a Deep Depression over north Tamil Nadu coast. To move nearly west-northwestwards and gradually weaken into a depression by noon of 10th December said IMD.

After the storm made landfall, several areas including Chennai suffered damage. Heavy rains in Chennai have left many places submerged. Similarly, traffic has been disrupted due to fallen trees in many places. It is estimated that Cyclone Mandous is gradually weakening. Cyclone Mandous storm rear sector has moved into land and landfall process has completed.

The cyclonic storm will make complete landfall around Friday midnight. Ahead of the landfall, traffic movement was suspended on East Coast Road and suburban trains are likely to be rescheduled.

According to India Meteorological Department, the cyclonic storm will likely move nearly northwestwards and cross north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Sriharikota around Mamallapuram as a cyclonic storm between Friday midnight and early hours of Saturday
