Two BJP IT Cell members and their security personnel were arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police last week. The arrests were made for allegedly faking a militant attack in Kupwara. This fake militant attack was staged to receive “enhanced security” from the administration.
The BJP leaders who planned the fake attack are the BJP IT cell in-charge for Kupwara, Ishfaq Ahmad Mir and the District Spokesperson Basharat Ahmad. These two BJP leaders along with their PSO’s faked a militant attack. They planned this fake militant attack to ‘attract attention’ and get “enhanced security” from the administration.
However, BJP said that it has suspended the father of Ishfaq Ahmad Mir. Mohammad Shafi Mir, the District President of BJP, till the investigation into the matter is completed.
According to a senior police officer, “We are coming up with full details in a day or two”. Furthermore, the police said that on July 16, when Ishfaq was distributing relief to the residents in Kupwara, there was news of a militant attack on him. He claimed that one of the bullet hit his arm during the attack
The police say that a bullet accidentally hit the arm of Ishfaq by one of his security personnel. Very soon the other security personnel fired warning shots, thinking it to be a militant attack.
But the police ruled out the militant attack. Later, the police revealed that it was a faked militant attack by these two BJP IT Cell members and their security personnel.
All the accused were presented before the court on Monday and sent to judicial remand for seven days.
