Deepak Singh, a Congress leader, sent a letter to BJP MP Amethi Smriti Irani on Thursday, inviting her to join Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra in Uttar Pradesh.
On Wednesday, he informed Irani’s secretary Naresh Sharma that the open invite had been delivered to her camp office in Gauriganj.
Singh stated that he was directed by his party’s senior members to invite everyone to join the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
I thought Amethi MP Smriti Zubin Irani should be the first to receive an invitation letter, he explained.
When asked about the invitation, BJP district president Durgesh Tripathi said the Amethi MP or any other party worker would not be attending the yatra.
The BJP has always worked on the idea of a united India. India has never been broken, so where did this talk of unification come from? he questioned.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Irani won over former Congress President Rahul Gandhi from Amethi.
On January 3, the yatra will enter Uttar Pradesh through Ghaziabad.
