Gautam Adani, Chairman of Adani Group became the world’s second richest person surpassing Bernard Arnault, the co-founder and chairman of LVMH Moet Hennessy – Louis Vuitton.
He is just ahead of French business magnate Bernard Arnault and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, remains at the top of the rich list.
According to Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires List, Adani and his family’s net worth stood at $155.4 billion against Arnault’s $155.2 billion. His net worth increased by $5.2 billion, or 3.49 percent.
According to Hindustan Times, the Adani Group owns India’s largest private-sector port and airport operator, as well as the country’s largest city-gas distributor and coal miner.
The Adani Group’s kitchen necessities subsidiary Adani Wilmar Ltd is currently looking for local and international acquisition targets to boost its food operations sector.
Angshu Mallick, the company’s chief executive officer and managing director said, the company is aiming to acquire brands in staple foods and distribution companies to boost its consumer products offering and reach.
Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, is ranked eighth in the world with a net worth of $92.3 billion.
