Anand Mahindra offers employment to Agniveers, Netizens mixed reactions

Industrialist Anand Mahindra plunged into support for ‘Agnipath’ and offered to hire ‘Agniveers’, jobs in his company. Many social media users, including veterans from the defense forces, trolled him for his statement. Some people even questioned if the Mahindra Group had hired ex-service men in their company for the last 10 years.

Earlier on Monday, Mr Anand Mahindra had said that the Mahindra Group would welcome the opportunity to recruit people trained under the Agnipath scheme.

He tweeted, ‘Saddened by the violence around the ‘Agneepath’ program. When the scheme was mooted last year I stated-& I repeat-the discipline & skills Agniveers gain will make them eminently employable. The Mahindra Group welcomes the opportunity to recruit such trained, capable young people’.

Also he tweeted, Large potential for employment of Agniveers in the corporate sector. With leadership, teamwork and physical training, Agniveers provide market-ready professional solutions to industry, covering the full spectrum from operations to administration and supply chain management.

His tweet came amidst protests across the country after the centre announced the ‘Agnipath’ scheme under which youth between 17.5-21 years age group will be recruited for four years and then 75 percent of them will be relieved of their duties. However, they will be given a sum of 12 lakh and no pension benefits.
