First batch of 116 Agniveers, passed out from AOC Centre

The first batch of 116 Agniveers, recruited under the Agnipath scheme, passed out on Saturday after completing their 24 weeks of training at AOC Centre.

According to Telangana Today, the soldiers underwent 24 weeks of basic and advanced military training. They marched in two columns during the parade, reviewed by Brigadier Ajeet Deshpande. These young soldiers were selected through an online entrance exam and physical fitness tests. These Agniveers will now be assigned to their respective units.

What is that Agnipath scheme?

Agnipath Scheme is a tour of duty style scheme approved by the Government of India on 14 June 2022 for recruiting soldiers below the rank of commissioned officers into the three services of the armed forces. All recruits will be hired only for a four-year period.
 
The Union Cabinet of India approved one of the attractive schemes for Indian youth through which they can join the Indian armed forces. The name of this scheme is Agnipath, and the selected candidate under this scheme is known as Agniveer.
 

The Agnipath scheme was approved by the Indian Government in June 2022 to be implemented from September 2022. The announcement was made on June 14, 2022. The scheme is for both male and female aspirants of the age group 17.5 to 21 years.
