Agnipath Scheme: Age and Educational qualifications

Centre has introduced a new recruitment policy called The Agnipath Scheme for the Armed Forces. This was launched by the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The recruits hired under this scheme would be called as Agniveers. This Scheme would add 46000 soldiers to Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Army force.

The entry would be done for a period of 4 years initially. In this Initial period, the recruits would be trained by the armed forces in the required skills.

Agnipath Recruitment scheme was launched by Rajnath Singh, the Union Defence Minister. Apparently, this recruitment aims at  radical changes in the Indian Armed forces.

According to the recruitment policy, the Agnipath scheme would add 46,000 soldiers to all the three forces. The scheme was approved by the cabinet and immediately briefed to the media.

What is Agnipath?

Agnipath scheme is a recruitment scheme for the Indian youth who wish to join the Armed Forces.

The main highlights of Agnipath Scheme

-The entry would be done for a period of 4 years initially.

-The recruits would be trained by the armed forces in the skills required for a period of 4 years.
-The recruits who would be hired under the scheme would be called Agniveers.
– 46000 soldiers would be recruited every year.
-Only 25% of them would be retained for an additional tenure of 15 years for permanent commission.
-The others would be allowed to leave and given a Seva Nidhi – a corpus of one time amount of Rs. 11.71 lakh plus interest.
-However, this amount would be tax free and can be used by the individual in future.
-25% of the selected in the Armed Forces will be treated as regular cadre,
-They would be required to serve a further period of minimum 15 years.

Age Limit to join Agnipath Scheme

The age limit for the eligible candidates will be in range from 17.5 to 21 years.

Educational Qualifications

The educational qualification for Agniveers  remains the same as it is for enrollment in various categories.

Medical Requirements

Recruits should be medically fit as per the conditions given in the armed forces as applicable to respective forces.
