In the Karnataka Hijab ban row, a dramatic incident took place today. The two students who were the first ones to file a petition in the court to allow Hijab inside classrooms. However, they were not allowed to write the examination. The reason was, as there was any exception for the court’s order upholding the state government’s ban.
The two girls were turned away from the examination center as they insisted on taking the exams wearing burqas. They are appearing for their final class 12 board examination. Earlier, Aliya Assadi and Resham collected their hall tickets and turned up donning burqas to take the exams at the Vidyalaya PU College in Udupi.
They tried to convince the invigilators and the college principal. They persuaded them for 45 minutes. However, they were not allowed to write the examination. Furthermore, the officials said that they can not allow the girls as there is no exception to the court order. As a result, they two girls were seen quietly leaving the premises without taking the exams.

According to NDTV, the state education minister BC Nagesh has categorically said that students won’t be allowed to take their exam in the hijab. Prior to this, many Muslims girl students requested the minister to allow them to wear their hijabs during the final exams.
17-year-old Aliya Assadi, who is leading the battle against the state’s Hijab ban made an appeal to the chief Minister. She said that Mr. Basavaraj Bommai still had a chance “to stop our future from getting ruined”.
Aliya tweeted, ”you still have a chance to stop our future from getting ruined. You can made a decision to allow us to write exams wearing hijab. Please consider this. We are the future of this country,”
