Unnao Rape Survivor’s Mother, Asha Singh loses in Assembly Elections 22

Unnao Rape survivor’s mother, the Congress candidate Asha Singh, the mother of rape survivor lost in the Assembly elections 2022. She not only lost the Uttar Pradesh elections but also lost her deposit.

She hardly got any votes. Till the tenth round of counting she managed to secure just 438 votes only. By the end of the counting she secured 1544 votes.

However, BJP”s Pankaj Gupta won this seat with majority of more than one lakh twenty six thousand votes.

Unnao rape case refers to the incident where a 17-year-old girl was gang raped and former BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar in 2017. However, after a long struggle, the mother-daughter duo brought the case to limelight. Immediately, BJP suspended Kuldeep Sengar from the party.

Then the government took necessary steps and handed over the case to CBI. After a series of investigations, he was convicted in the case. He is awarded life-imprisonment.

In view of the Uttar Pradesh general assembly elections, Ms. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra gave the mother of the rape survivor to contest the elections from the Unnao sadar seat.

In her elections speech, Asha Singh said that she is contesting the elections so that no other daughter faces the same situation of her daughter.

The rape survivor said that they are very grateful to Priyanka didi, as she could understand our plight.
