Ram Gopal Varma came out in his support of Anurag Kashyap and called him a ‘highly sensitive and emotional person’ who is not known to have hurt anyone. After allegations of sexual assault were leveled against Anurag Kashyap.
Actor Payal Ghosh accused filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of sexual misconduct. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has come in to support Anurag Kashyap. RGV said that he has known Anurag for more than two decades. And also he never witnessed or heard about him hurting anyone.
RGV took to twitter and wrote “The @anuragkashyap72 I know is a highly sensitive and emotional person and I never ever saw or heard about him hurting anyone in all of the 20 years that I have known him. So I frankly can’t picture what’s happening now,”
Payal claimed that when she met Anurag professionally, he misbehaved with her, during the making of Bombay Velvet. Anurag has denied the allegations and called them baseless.
His lawyer Priyanka Khimani issued a statement saying, “My client, Anurag Kashyap has been deeply pained by the false sexual assault allegations of misconduct. That have recently surfaced against him. These allegations are completely false, malicious and dishonest.”
The statement said that in this case, the Me Too movement was ‘reduced to a mere tool for character assassination’, and that Anurag intends to take legal action.
Several Bollywood celebrities came out in support of Anurag, including actors Taapsee Pannu, Tisca Chopra, Surveen Chawla, and Anjana Sukhani. His ex-wives, film editor Aarti Bajaj and actor Kalki Koechlin, also stood up for him.
Aarti Bajaj, His ex-wife wrote that Anurag always empowers women and creates a safe place for them. Also she said that it was the Cheapest stunt she has seen till now. She said that first it made her angry but she laughed so hard as it cannot come more framed than that.
And she wrote that she felt sorry that Anuraga had to go through this. She wrote a post in the Instagram, “That’s the level of them,”
Meanwhile Kalki, said that Anurag has always defended the integrity of women in the professional space as well as his personal life. She said that she has been a wiitness to it, in the personal and professional space.
Kalki also said the Anurag had always seen her as his equal. She added that he had stood up for her integrity even after their divorce. And also supported her when she felt unsafe in a work environment even before they got together.
Also she wrote that these days everyone gets to abuse one another and make false claims without any repercussions is a dangerous and repulsive one.
