Missing helicopter crashes near Mount Everest in Nepal

On Tuesday, the missing helicopter crashed at Lamjura of Likhupike Rural Municipality in Solukhumbu district, Nepal. The Manang Air went missing near Mount Everest in Nepal with six people on board. Initial media reports indicated that all foreign nationals on board were Mexican.

According to the ANI, The chopper was en route to Kathmandu from Solukhumbu and got disconnected from the control tower at around 10 AM in the morning, Information Officer Gyanendra Bhul. The helicopter with the call sign 9NMV got off the radar at 10:12 AM (Local Time). There were 5 foreign nationals on the missing chopper. Manang Air manager Raju Newpane said a team has been deployed for the search and rescue operation.

The 5 tourists are Mexican nationals, while the pilot was Nepalese. Later, the search team finds the wreckage of a missing helicopter, five bodies recover and still one person is missing, says Police.

As per repots of ANI, The helicopter has been found at the border of Likhu PK village council and Dudhkunda Municipality-2 commonly called Lamajura Danda. The villagers have retrieved the five bodies, Koshi Province Police DIG Rajeshnath Bastola tells ANI. As per the police, the helicopter seems to have hit a tree on the hilltop. “Identities of the retrieved bodies are yet to be ascertained,” Bastola added.
