BJP MLA from Karnataka, MP Kumaraswamy, alleged that he was attacked by the villagers in Chikkamgaluru on Sunday. He had gone to pacify the villagers who were protesting with the dead body of a woman who was trampled by an elephant.
Mudigere MLA from BJP, MP Kumaraswamy’s clothes were torn by the angry villagers of Hullemane village. He visited them following the death of a woman in an elephant attack.
Reportedly, the woman died after she was trampled by the the elephants. The villagers were angry that such incidents were repeated and people were being trampled by 8 the elephants.
According to India Today, an argument broke out between the BJP leader and the villagers as he didn’t responded late to the protest. The angry villagers chased him. However, the police came to his rescue of the MLA. Th police had to use its force to disperse the angry villagers.
After the incident, the MLA claimed that he was beaten up and the people ripped his shirt off.
