Jiah Khan Suicide Case: Actor Sooraj Pancholi acquitted of abetment charges

Sooraj Pancholi, the Indian actor accused of allegedly abetting the suicide of Jiah Khan, has arrived before the CBI court. The CBI court in Mumbai is expected to deliver its verdict. On Friday, a special court in Mumbai acquitted Jiah’s boyfriend and film star Sooraj Pancholi of abetment charges.

According to news reports, Sooraj Pancholi reached the Mumbai court with his mother Zarina Wahab for a verdict in the Jiah Khan suicide case.

Jiah Khan Suicide Case:

Jiah Khan (Nafisa Rizvi Khan) was an English-American actress and singer who worked in Indian cinema. She worked in three Bollywood movies from 2007-2010. On June 3, 2013, the actor was found dead at her Mumbai residence.

According to Hindustan Times, Sooraj Pancholi was allegedly in a relationship with Jiah Khan. Sooraj is the son of Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab. Both Jiah and Sooraj were in

Jiah’s mother Rabia Khan alleged that her daughter was murdered. She also claimed that she was in a toxic relationship with Sooraj.

Based on a letter obtained on June 10, 2013, allegedly written by Jiah Khan, 25, the Mumbai Police charged and detained actor Sooraj Pancholi under Section 306 (abetment to suicide).

Apparently, to the CBI, the note detailed her “intimate relationship, physical abuse, and mental and physical torture” at the hands of Sooraj, which ultimately led her to commit suicide.

Later the case was moved to a special CBI court in 2021 after the sessions court stated that it lacked jurisdiction because the CBI had investigated it. Rabia, Jiah’s mother said that the police and CBI had not gathered legal proof to confirm her daughter’s suicide.
