VISAKHAPATNAM: Janasena Chief Pawan Kalyan meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Visakhapatnam on Friday. The meeting, lasted for nearly 30 minutes. It assumed significance in the backdrop of the volatile political situation in the state. Janasena, which is an ally of the BJP, is said to be drifting away from the saffron party and getting closer to the TDP.
Pawan Kalyan held a press conference after meeting with PM Modi
Later, Pawan Kalyan had a very brief interaction with the media after he met the Prime Minister. Pawan Kalyan said he met Modi after eight years. ‘I met him last time in 2014 after he won the election and became the PM’. He termed the meeting to be significant.
However, speaking to the reporters after meeting the PM, Pawan Kalyan said he had received a call from the Prime Minister’s office (PMO) two days ago, confirming an appointment with him.
BJP core committee meeting with PM Modi
After meeting the actor Pawan Kalyan, PM Modi also held a meeting with the BJP state core committee headed by party state unit president Somu Veerraju. Apparently, he discussed the efforts to be made to strengthen the party and its expansion in Andhra Pradesh.
Veerraju told the reporters that the PM gave a direction to the party on how to reach out to the people and explain what the Centre had done to the state and its development. “It was an inspiring interaction”, he said.
Earlier, the BJP leaders in the state held an impressive road show from the airport to the Eastern Naval Command, where the PM stayed. A large number of people and the BJP workers showered petals on Modi’s convoy.
