Hyderabad traffic police have issued guidelines and traffic advice for December 31, New Year Eve celebrations that will take place within the city limits.
Certain major roads will be closed, and citizens are advised to plan accordingly. The Nehru Ring Road will be closed to light motor vehicles from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Vehicles heading to the airport, on the other hand, will be allowed to proceed. In addition to those heading to the airport, the PVNR Express Way will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Cab/taxi/auto rickshaw drivers/operators must be properly uniformed and carry all required documentation. They will not keep refusing ride-on hire to any member of the public. It is a violation of Section 178 of the 1988 Motor Vehicles Act.
On such objection to the following, a penalty of Rs. 500/- would be imposed in the form of an e-challan. The public can send such complaints to us via WhatsApp at 9490617346, along with details about the vehicle, time, and location. Shall not misbehave in public or demand exorbitant fares.
Drunk driving cases under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1968 will be filed against each of the drunk drivers. They will all be brought to court in due course. A fine of Rs. 10,000 and imprisonment for up to 6 months for the first offense. And a fine of Rs. 15,000 and imprisonment for up to 2 years for a second or subsequent offense.
Additionally, all of their driving licenses will be seized and sent to the concerned RTOs for suspension in accordance with Section 19 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
