Huge aquarium bursted in Berlin, housed 1500 tropical fish

According to the German police, a huge aquarium bursted in the center of Berlin on Friday. It caused a wave of devastation in and around the Sea Life tourist attraction.

The aquarium consiste of 1 million liters of water. When it bursted the glass and other debris swept out of the building. The area also contains a hotel and cafes. The aquarium bursted before 6.a.m (0500GMT). 1 million liters of water gushed out of the 25-meter (82-foot) -high aquarium shortly before 6 a.m.

On the other hand, Berlin’s fire service said two people were lightly injured. They have brought the rescue dogs into action  to search the building for anyone who might be trapped under debris.

According to abc News, The speculations are that there might be a crack in the tank freezing temperatures of down to minus 10 degrees Celsius (14 Fahrenheit) overnight. Apparently, the tank exploded under the weight of the water.

However, according to the Police the cause of the incident was still being investigated but there was no evidence that it was the result of an attack.

Witnesses nearby the aquarium felt that they heard a loud band and initially thought that a bomb had exploded.

According to the Operators of the aquarium,  the aquarium has the biggest cylindrical tank in  the world and contained 1,500 tropical fish of 80 different species before the incident. The aquarium, which was last modernized in 2020, is a major tourist magnet in Berlin.

Moroever, the 10-minute elevator ride through the tank was one of the highlights of the attraction.
