Dry run different from Vaccination?
We have been hearing this word Dry run off late. Dry run is the arrangements being made across the country to vaccinate against corona. The arrangements have been completed in many states. It will be held on Saturday in Telangana.
The dry run will be held in Tilak Nagar Urban Primary Health Center (UPHC), Nampally Area Hospital, Somajiguda Yashoda Hospital along with Mahabubnagar District Janampeta Primary Health Center Mahabubnagar District Government Hospital and Neha Shine Private Hospital, in Hyderabad.
Let’s know what is a Dry run and vaccination?
Dry run is similar to Mock drill which is organized to create awareness among people to educate them to react in the event of any accident or natural disaster? Dry run helps us know the challenges during the vaccine distribution process.
Dry run helps us to know the practical experience of implementing the road map, i.e, vaccine transport, storage, etc. The challenges encountered during this hands on experience are identified and addressed. It also helps the medical staff to be well prepared in case of any side effects. Thereby paving the way for the actual vaccination process to proceed smoothly.
How is the dry run organized?
25 health workers are identified at each dry run center. Their data is uploaded in the COVID app.
Every minute detail regarding space, other arrangements, internet connectivity, electricity, security, etc. will be considered.
Vaccinations would be given in a three-room center, where they have connected exit routes.
During dry run everything including vaccine supply, storage, and cold chain management will be observed.
How it is done?
About 25 health workers arrive at the Dry run Center.
Firstly, the vaccinator officer will determine if the vaccine holder’s name is in the registered list and then only he would be allowed into the center.
The second vaccinator will then check if the person’s name is registered on the COVID app.
Staff will do a dry run vaccination without the vaccine.
The second vaccinator is then intimated about the vaccination. Then he updates the same in the COVID app
The third and fourth vaccinators will help people stand in a queue, and also assist people who have been vaccinated to take rest or wait for 30 minutes.
In case of any side effects, the second vaccinator will report them to the officer through the COVID app site.
Complaints can be made by calling 104 or 1075.
