A shocking incident “Halloween Crowd Surge” which happened in South Korea shook the citizens and the internet. At least 156 people were dead and 151 more injured in this incident. The injured people were shifted to a small downhill alley in Itaewon.

Witnesses recounted people colliding with one another, having trouble breathing, and losing consciousness. They claimed that the Itaewon area was jam-packed with slow-moving vehicles and partygoers wearing Halloween costumes. This made impossible for rescuers and ambulances to get to the crowded alleys in time. Most of them were in their 20s and 30s, and about 2/3rd’s were women.

Actor, Singer Lee Jihan died in Itaewon Stampede

Actor, singer Lee Jihan, has passed away in the tragic Itaewon Stampede on 29 October. Witness claims that Lee Ji-han was spotted trying to save a trapped girl. After girl ran away, Lee pinned Jihan and could not escape. The girl’s family expressed their regret and gratitude to the family. He is former contestant of ‘Produce 101 Season 2’ The young actor appeared in drama ‘Today was Another Nam Hyun Day’.

South Korea’s National Police Agency Commissioner Yoon Hee Keun bows and admitted responsibility and apologized during a press conference on the deadly incident. The incident took place at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency in Seoul on November 1, 2022.

Further he added “I feel a heavy responsibility (for the disaster) as the head of one of the related government office, Police will do their best to prevent a tragedy like this from happening again.”

South Korea’s interior minister, Emergency office chief, Seoul mayor and` the head of a ward office that includes the Itaewon neighborhood all offered public apologies.

South Korea’s police chief said on November 1 that an initial investigation found that officers had received multiple urgent reports of danger ahead of a deadly crowd crush but the calls were not handled properly by the police officers.

Priyanka Chopra took to Instagram and sent prayers and strength to the families and mentioned hashtag #seoulstampede.
