Keeping the citizens safe should be the top priority to any government. The world has seen many people victimized by gun violence. Canada Government has taken some measures by implementing gun control laws in 2020. Again in 2022, the Canada has introduced new laws to strengthen their existing gun control laws.

Aftermath the attack in 2020

In 2020, eastern province of Nova Scotia had experienced a deadly attack. As a result the Canadian Government banned more than 1500 models and variants of assault-style fire arms. They also strengthened their gun control laws to expand background checks and keep fire arms out of wrong hands.

Canada New laws to gun control

The Canadian PM Justin Trudaeu announced a new legislation that further strengthens their existing gun control while addressing the citizens in Ottawa on Monday evening.

All the Canadians agree that we need less gun violence. We cannot let the guns debate become so polarized. We cannot let that happen in our country, Trudeau told reporters.

He added, “Gun violence is a complex problem, but at the end of the day, the math is really quite simple. The fewer the guns in our communities, the safer everyone will be.”

More details on laws

In a statement offering more details on the newly introduced laws he said that ‘Bill C-21’ is introduced for strongest gun control measures in over 40 years.

The Government has decided to invest $6.6 million to help raise awareness of new laws and provide support to vulnerable and marginalized groups to navigate the provisions.

Regulatory amendments

To ensure the implementation of laws strictly and swiftly the Minister of Public Safety has already tabled regulatory amendments in both the House of Commons and the Senate. In fall 2022, this action might come into force.
