A day after TRS MLC K Kavitha name appeared in the ED remand report. The party held a conference call in which leaders were instructed not to make any provocative remarks about the case. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had named TRS MLC K Kavitha in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. The BJP’s top leadership has warned party leaders against making statements that opposition parties could use to imply that the BJP government at the Centre was directing ED.

Following a verbal argument with Kavitha, a few BJP leaders’ comments predicting action against her did not sit well with the party’s leadership.

As a result strong statements on the issue would be missing for a while a party leader said.

The ED is an independent investigative agency with no ties to the government. Any remark that BJP leaders had already predicted would be counterproductive, according to a source.

TRS leaders have highlighted some BJP leaders’ statements as proof that the saffron party wanted to destabilize the Telangana government, especially after the Poachgate episode.

Except for BJP state chief Bandi Sanjay, no other top leader has made a public statement about Kavitha. According to sources, a few press conferences were also cancelled after clear hints from Delhi leadership.

The same instructions were issued in the Poachgate case, where, with the exception of Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy. No BJP leader has spoken out strongly against their leaders being named in the case.
