The Election Commission framed a five -member limit for door- to -door campaign as there is a threat of third wave.  These norms were made due to the increase in the COVID cases. In addition to that, Omicron reached the community transmission stage.

However, Amit Shah the Home Minister of India flouted all the norms framed by the Election Commission. He started his door-door campaign in Khairana in UP on Jan 22.

Visuals on the social media platforms show that neither Shah nor the others wore face masks. They did  not maintain social distancing too.  Shah can be seen greeting the public and even feeding sweets to children.

Amit shah picked up an issue about an incident which happened before 2017. He claimed repeatedly, that Hindus from khairana, were forced to leave their homes during the term of the SP government.

Meanwhile, he also claimed that only BJP government can give their houses back. He also assured them security. He claimed an improvement in law and order in the state.

Interestingly, slogans of “Jai shri Ram and “Bharat Mata ki Jai” were being chanted in the background. Meanwhile, Amit Shah can be seen distributing pamphlets and asking people to re-elect BJP to power.

This was Amit Shah’s first political campaign after the poll dates of UP were announced.

Moreover, the photos posted in the social media handles clearly show how the COVID norms were flouted. Amit Shah and BJP leaders can be seen violating the norms framed by the Election commission.
