After Shaheen Bagh minority activist joins BJP all is not well in Delhi BJP camp

Last year Shaheen Bagh was the epicenter of nationwide protests after the introduction of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). State BJP president Adesh Gupta didn’t make any comment regarding this matter.

Some of the leaders of BJP in Delhi have expressed their opinion regarding the recent joining of agitators from Shaheen Bagh.

Delhi BJP’s Nighat Abbas who is behind the recent addition of people in party denied the matter, and said she wasn’t aware of any complaint from leaders.

In the presence of the chief of the party’s Delhi unit last week, Shaheen Bagh activist joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.

After one week, workers in the organization faced problems. They said that they can’t work efficiently in the presence of these new members of the minority community.

State BJP president Adesh Gupta hasn’t made any comment regarding this matter. Some of the leaders of BJP in Delhi have expressed their opinion regarding the recent joining from Shaheen Bagh.

According to a senior Delhi BJP leader the new joining have brought disturbance in party not only because the area was an anti-CAA protest venue, but also because persons who joined are being linked to the February riots in northeast Delhi.

Last year Shaheen Bagh was the epicenter of nationwide protests after the introduction of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

The BJP leader said that some senior Delhi BJP functionaries were called by the national leadership to warn against such a political blunder in the future. They were annoyed that the sensitive issue was not brought to their notice beforehand.

Delhi BJP’s Nighat Abbas, who is behind the recent addition of people into the  party denied the matter, and said she wasn’t aware of any complaint from the leaders.

She also added some of the party leaders called her to congratulate her. She claimed that persons who joined BJP didn’t become the part of CAA protests, last year. Some only opposed the issue but weren’t a part of the agitation.

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi also attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party and accused them that they had done these things just to win the Delhi Assembly elections held in February.
