The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided seven distinct locations in Mumbai on Friday, including Jet Airways’ office and the residence of its founder, Naresh Goyal, in connection with a Rs 538 crore alleged bank fraud case.
According to The Hindu, the accused in the First Information Report (FIR) include Jet Airways (India) Limited, its founder-chairman Mr. Goyal, his wife Anita Goyal, and former airline director Gaurang Shetty. The FIR was filed in response to a complaint received from Canara Bank.
Jet Airways ceased operations in April 2019 owing to a severe financial shortage and debt. Following a lengthy bankruptcy resolution procedure at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), a consortium led by UAE-based billionaire Murari Lal Jalan and London-based Kalrock Capital took over control of the airline in June 2021.
