Maharashtra political crisis: After vacating the official residence, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray said the Shiv Sena would take action against rebels led by minister Eknath Shinde. He has warned the rebels from naming their party using “Shiv Sena Balasaheb Thackeray”, name.
National Executive Meeting
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray held a National Executive meeting of the Shiv Sena in Mumbai. In the meeting, the attendees cleared six resolutions taken by him. Furthermore, one of them authorised him to take action against the rebels.
Supporters
All his supporters suggested him to challenge the move taken by the rebels to call themselves “Shiv Sena Balasaheb Thackeray” in a letter to the Election Commission.Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said, “People will come to know what actions will be taken against those who have left the party by the evening. The work that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has done is commendable. We will all fight the elections under his leadership”.
Deputy Speaker’s action
Earlier, in the day, the rebel MLAs, were issued notices by the Maharashtra Assembly Deputy Speaker. According to NDTV, the rebel MLAs have been asked to appear in person or through their counsel on Monday to respond to the disqualification plea. However, the Deputy Speaker rejected the no-confidence motion moved by Eknath Shinde camp against him.
Anonymous email ID
According to various sources it is known that the 33 rebel MLAs had signed the no-confidence motion but none of the MLAs submitted it to the Deputy Speaker’s office. They chose to send it through an anonymous email ID.
Angered by the back stabbing of the rebel leaders, Shiv Sena workers today ransacked the office of rebel party MLA Tanaji Sawant in Pune.
Police orders
Consequently, the Pune Police issued an alert and directed all police stations to ensure security at offices related to Shiv Sena leaders in the city. They banned all large gatherings in Mumbai.
Meanwhile addressing a party meeting on Friday, Mr. Thackeray said, “The Sena is not finished” and that people siding with the BJP must be questioned. “Those who want to leave are free to go openly…. I will create a new Shiv Sena.”
Security withdrawn
The leader of the rebel MLAs, Mr Shinde alleged that the state government has withdrawn security cover provided at the residences of 16 rebel legislators, including himself, and dubbed the action as “political vendetta”, through a tweet. The Sena’s Chief spokesperson however denied such charges.
Confident Sena
After the rebellion, Uddhav team is reduced to minority but they are still confident that they will the trust vote. The quashed reports saying that the Eknath Shinde camp that is “the real Shiv Sena”.
Uddhav team said that the rebel team has no merit, as the Shiv Sena is a registered regional party and Uddhav Thackeray is their chief. They are confident on the Constitution through which party president is selected.
High Drama
Apparently, the high drama may take twists and turns before coming to a conclusion. However, Mr Shinde claims to have the Mr Shinde, support of more than 50 MLAs. The rebels are camping at a five-star hotel on the outskirts of Assam’s main city, Guwahati. A young MP, known to be close to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, is the pointsman, sources said, adding at least three Assam BJP ministers are closely overseeing logistical matters at the Guwahati hotel.
