BRS supporters on Wednesday slammed Center through banners in Hyderabad saying “Telangana gets zero in Union Budget.” The banners were flashed a day after the presentation of the Union Budget 2023 by Nirmala Sitharaman on February 01. Through the banners BRS leaders have accused the Central Government of not allocating funds for the projects that are pending in Telangana.
Telangana BRS MLC Kavitha Kalvakuntla on Wednesday said the budget “confirmed the failure of PM Narendra Modi’s government”.
The BRS routinely puts up posters against the BJP-led Centre targeting its policies. Earlier, the party had put up similar posters during PM Narendra Modi’s last visit.
BRS lawmakers on Wednesday accused the Centre that the budget is anti-poor, anti-farmer and pro-corporate. Moreover, they have listed out 35 concerns to the Centre. The list includes the promises made during the bifurcation of AP in 2014 were not mentioned in the budget.
Furthermore, the BRS lawmakers said that the assurances given by the Centre under the Reorganisation Act regarding Bayyaram steel plant, railway coach factory at Kazipet and a tribal university in Mulugu were not mentioned in Sitharaman’s speech,
On the other hand, there was no mention of funds for irrigation projects such as Kaleshwaram project and Palarmur-Rangareddy lift irrigation schemes. No demands were addressed by the Centre which the state government asked for. The state government demanded funds for various infrastructure projects including Highways and Hyderabad Metro AirPort Express.
