Shiv Sena PM Sanjay Raut wife Varsha has skipped the ED summon for the third time. She did not appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning quoting illness for the last two times and now she said that she needs time to appear in connection with the Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank scam case. Varsha Raut has reportedly cited personal reasons and has sought time from the probe agency till 5 January.
According to the investigation of the ED, the company Siddharth Syscom Private Ltd had been formed in 2007, and was registered at an address in Mumbai’s Malad West. The company had three directors.
Varsha Raut ,Madhuri Praveen Raut and Supriya Raju Parulkar. The capital share of this company was ₹ 5 lakh. According to the documents, the company is engaged in accounting, book keeping and auditing tax advice, market research and public opinion polling etc.
After the ED summoned Raut’s wife, the MP alleged that targeting women of a household was an “act of cowardice”. “We are not scared of anyone and will respond accordingly,” the Sena leader added.
In September last year, the RBI had capped the withdrawal limit and restricted the activities of the PMC Bank after an alleged fraud of Rs 4,355 crore came to light.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Monday alleged that the Central agencies were being used to “destabilise” the Uddhav Thackeray-led government in Maharashtra and claimed BJP leaders had been in touch with him for over a year to effect this plan.
Saying his wife is a teacher, Raut said unlike leaders of the BJP, “our income has not grown by Rs 1,600 crore”. He alleged that these politics were being played by the BJP out of frustration, as they are unable to fight their political opponents face to face. He also warned that Shiv sena will respond to this in an equal measure.
Raut said that he was not keeping the federal agency in dark, and had regular correspondence with ED since November regarding a Rs 50 lakh loan taken by his wife ten years ago from a friend to purchase a house.
The MP said all the documents and details regarding this loan had already been submitted to the ED during the last one and a half month.
Sanjay Raut added that they are middle class people. His wife had taken a loan from a friend 10 years ago to purchase a house. He said that all the details have been submitted to the Income Tax (department) and also mentioned in his Rajya Sabha affidavit. He questioned as to why did the ED wake up to this deal after ten years?
