Kerala NEET Controversy: 5 people were arrested after the NEET exam aspirants were allegedly forced to remove their bra before entering the examination hall.

NTA, the National Testing Agency, denied such allegations. However, a special team was formed, after a state minister urged the Centre to take action.

According to NDTV, five women who were involved in forcing the girls to remove the bra before entering the exam hall were arrested. In addition to this, the National Women’s commission has made a note of this.

Security Check at NEET exam hall

On the day of the NEET exam, the girls were humiliated as they were forced to remove their bra. When they went through the security check, there was a beep in the machine. It was due to the metal hooks in the bra. Hence, the women who were there near the security check asked the girls to remove their bra and enter the exam hall. Later, police filed a complaint on the people who were near the security check.

Insulting and uncomfortable

One of the girls said, “They asked us to remove our bra and put it on a table. All the bras were bunched together. We didn’t even know if we would get ours back when we returned.”

She added, “when we were writing the exam, we put our hair in front as we had no shawl to cover ourselves…There were boys and girls and it was really difficult and uncomfortable.”

Future or Inner wear

However, the NTA said that there were no such regulations regarding the dress code for the exam. Meanwhile, the complaint filed by the father of the 17 year-old girl alleged that one of the persons at the security check said, “Is your future or inner wear big for you? Just remove it and don’t waste our time.” In fact he alleged that 99% of the girls had to go through this humiliating experience.

Kerala Education Minister words on exam controversy

On the other hand, Kerala Higher Education Minister R Bindu wrote to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, calling the incident a “”naked assault on the dignity and honor of the girl students” and seeking strong action.

She further wrote, “The shame and shock of this unexpected turn of events have affected the morale and composure of the students whose performance in the test was consequently affected.”
