NCERT removes Gandhi’s assassination details from new textbooks

NCERT removed gandhis assassination

It is shocking that the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has removed Gandhis assassination paragraphs from Class 12 Political Science textbooks. The removed content contained the government’s temporary ban on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) following Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination.

Moreover, for the past 15 years, Nathuram Godse has been referred to in the History book of Class 12 as a “Brahmin from Pune” who assassinated Gandhi, a reference that has now been removed.

According to The Indian Express, Gandhiji’s death had an almost magical effect on the communal situation in the country… The Government of India cracked down on organisations that were spreading communal hatred. Organisations like the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh were banned for some time… These lines have been removed by NCERT from class 12 textbooks.

Annapurna Devi Minister of State for Education stated, the syllabus of books was rationalised in view of the loss of education in the pandemic. This was done to reduce the stress faced by students.
