Youth Congress Chief B V Srinivas tweeted a video which shows a man dressed in a saffron T-shirt torching the van from close up. For this video, he gave a caption: Which party’s nationalist rioters’…?

BJP protest in Kolkata turned violent yesterday. One of the videos which is viral on social media shows how the police vehicle was ransacked. The windshields and window panes were smashed.

The man in the video set fire to the towel kept in the police van with a cigarette lighter. This man wearing a saffron T-shirt. The Congress leader wrote,  “Just identify, which party’s ‘nationalist rioters’ are burning police jeeps in West Bengal?”

B V Srinivas tweeted another video which shows people holding BJP flags and ransacking the police vehicles.

For this tweet, the congress youth chief took a joe at PM Narendra Modi’s past statements.  “I am sure the Prime Minister will identify these rioters by their clothes and flags, and, in his heart, will never be able to forgive them.

BJP denies Kolkata police

However, BJP denies that its workers lit the fire, “Police may done it themselves,” said Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, “Our workers were not carrying any weapons. Maybe Trinamool Congress’s jihadis came and carried out the violence.” Moreover, they alleged that the violence started only after the police provocation.

The clashes started when the police set up barricades for the march , which was named ‘Nabanna Abhijan’- a march to the state secretariat. Protesters threw stones, hence, the police had to use water canons to disperse the crowds. The police detained many BJP leaders.
