Hyderabad: 10-year-old girl fell into open manhole, dies

On Saturday, with heavy rainfall and a cloudy sky, the city of Hyderabad woke up with a bizarre incident. As per news reports, a 10-year-old girl fell into an open manhole and died in the Kalasiguda area, Hyderabad.

The news went viral all over the internet and netizens started slamming GHMC for their inefficiency at work.

Mounica, a 10-year-old girl, was allegedly on her way home after buying groceries in the morning and fell into an open manhole. The girl got washed away by the massive rainfall effect.

According to Telangana Today, she fell into the manhole after rescuing her brother from it. The GHMC DRF responded immediately and started a large search.

Despite the efforts, the GHMC DRF crew and local police finally traced the body in the nala at Park Lane in Secunderabad and retrieved it. Later the body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital Mortuary.

Gadwal Vijayalaxmi, Mayor of the GHMC, visited the accident site and suspended two GHMC personnel for negligence.

Open manhole claims a life! A child died after falling into an open manhole in Kalasiguda of Secunderabad this morning. Amid rain, the girls had stepped out to buy milk for the family. DRF recovered the dead body from a Nala and shifted it to Gandhi Hospital, Ashish tweeted.
