Odisha train accident: Nearly 200 people died and many injured

In a tragic incident, nearly 200 passengers died, and around 900 were injured in a deadly accident involving three trains at Bahanaga Bazar station in the Balasore district of Odisha. On Friday evening as authorities mounted a massive rescue operation right through the night involving multiple agencies.

Our six teams of NDRF have been working here since last night. Our dog squad and medical team are also engaged in the rescue operation,” says Jacob Kispotta, Senior Commandant.

As per the source, 238 people have died in the collision of three trains. Around a thousand people were injured. The chef ministers of those two states are inquiring about the AP and Tamil Nadu passengers on the Coromandel Express.

Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw rushed to the accident site in Balasore, Odisha. Ashwini Vaishnaw announces ex-gratia compensation of Rs.10 lakhs in case of death of accident victims. And Rs.2 lakhs for those with grievous injuries and Rs.50,000 for those with minor injuries. He expressed is gratitude to the NDRF officials who are actively engaged in Balasore’s search and rescue operation. The minister said that an high-level inquiry will be conducted on the train accident.
