Murali Sreeshankar, is a 24-year-old silver medal winner at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and Gold medal winner at the Indian Grand Prix. He is all set to go for the United States on Wednesday with his father for the most crucial period of his preparation this year.
He will be trained at Texas Tech University in Lubbock until the first week of May. Further, he will be trained by horizontal Jumps coach Keith Herston. He will then train and compete in Chula Vista, California, as well as Europe. Moreover, he would be trained particularly for Greece which include Diamond League competitions. Sreeshankar will return to India only in July for the Inter-State meet.
Sreeshankar stated as he prepares to fly to the United States. “This will be a pivotal season for me.” Last year, the first cycle of my competition season was quite excellent, with regular, large jumps, but there was a tiny decrease in my rhythm when it got to the world championships. We don’t want to do it this year,”.
“He was recovering from an injury, so we had to be cautious,” Murali said. “We lost two months of athletic training due to the injury because we had to focus on recovery and rehabilitation.” We concentrated on his muscle building. We began training in the final week of November with the goal of peaking for the world championships and Asian Games. He will compete in the Asian Championships in Pattaya, Thailand, in July.”
