India could surpass China as the world’s most populous country in the next year. The United Nations (UN) gave a report on Monday. The report said, ‘the world population is expected to reach eight billion by mid-November 2022. The global population is likely to touch the 8 billion mark by mid-November 2022. It may soar to 9.7 billion in 2050.’
The findings and the projections released by the United Nations on July 11 to mark the World Population Day. Furthermore, India is all set to surpass China as the world’s most populous country next year. However, India is reaching the numbers four years in advance than the predicted time.
This year’s World Population Day [July 11] falls during a milestone year when we anticipate the birth of the Earth’s eight billionth inhabitant.”
He added, “This is an occasion to celebrate our diversity, recognize our common humanity, and marvel at advancements in health that have extended lifespans and dramatically reduced maternal and child mortality rates.” In addition to this he said hat its a reminder of the shared responsibility to care for the Earth.
According to the report by the UN, the Eastern and South-Eastern Asia had 2.3 billion people. It represents 29% of the global population. Central and Southern Asia had 2.1 billion people, comprising 26% of the total world population.
Added to this, China and India accounted for the largest populations in these regions, with more than 1.4 billion each in 2022.
However, China could curtail population growth by its aggressive policies. They have been successful in their policies and the country’s population started shrinking.
On the contrary, India has been trying to curtail its population since five decades but the population grew by 63 percent in the last three decades. India is all set to overtake China in 2023.
