Former US President Donald Trump gets arrested at New York court on Tuesday. He is been charged with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records and conspiracy. Trump is currently presumptive Republic nominee in 2024 White House race.
Donald Trump, who is 76 years old becomes first former US president to gets arrested. Moreover, he pleaded not guilty to the charges during the court hearing. “We’re going to fight it, we’re going to fight it hard,” his lawyer Todd Blanche added.
According to news reports, Trump turned himself in for a historic court hearing in New York on Tuesday night, amidst tight security and global media. He becomes the first US president in the history to face criminal charges.
Payoff
Trump is facing charges related to payoff he made during 2016 elections to a porn star Stormy Daniels through his lawyer Michael Cohen. Also it is alleged that Trump had an affair with the girl in 2006. However, his wife Melania reacted to the news and denied the affair.
His lawyer Michael Cohen was found guilty in the federal court of the $130,000 payoffs and sentenced to 3 years prison. He is the prime witness in the case.
According to legal experts, if the payment is not properly accounted for, it could result in falsifying business records. Also could possibly to cover up a campaign financial violence.
