Elon Musk fires Head of Censorship Vijaya Gadde on AIR

As soon as Elon Musk declared that he wanted to buy Twitter for $44 billion, Vijaya Gadde found herself in the spotlight due to memes which were critical of the platform’s policies.

Elon Musk’s takeover over Twitter started with a bang! Musk completed his takeover of the social media giant with lots of drama. As soon as Elon Musk took over, he started setting the company and fires CEO Parag Agarwal and Vijaya Gadde and two more.

Firstly, he ousted four top senior executives of the company.

The top executives included Twitter CEO Parag  Agarwal, Vijaya Gadde and two more. However, firing Vijaya Gadde isn’t surprising,  the the way she is fired is !

Who is Vijaya Gadde?

Vijaya Gadde was born in Hyderabad but moved to the United States at the age of three.  She pursued her bachelor’s degree of science in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University. She studied law from New York University. She also worked as a senior director in the legal department of Juniper Networks.

According to the the Indian Express, Vijaya Gadde  joined Twitter like Parag Agarwal in 2011.

She earned nearly $17 million in 2021 as Twitter’s chief legal officer and approximately $7.3 million in 2020, according to a Bloomberg Law report. Her key responsibilities in the firm reportedly concerned dealing with tweets that involved fake news and harassment.

It is believed that Gadde had taken the decision to eventually ban former US President Donald Trump from the platform after the Capitol Hill riots on January 6, 2020.

Reason for firing Vijaya Gadde

As soon as Elon Musk declared that he wanted to buy Twitter for $44 billion, Vijaya Gadde found herself in the spotlight due to memes which were critical of the platform’s policies.

Musk himself shared one of the memes, apparently stating that her was dissatisfied with her and Twitter’s policies.

Elon Musk shared a meme referring  to a Joe Rogan podcast from early 2019 where Gadde and Jack Dorsey discussed Twitter’s moderation efforts.

Gadde was trolled very badly after the meme was shared by Elon Musk.

Eventually, Musk took over Twitter and fired her on AIR.
