BSF shoots down Pakistani drone carrying rifle, grenades near Jammu border

The Border Security Force (BSF) shot down a Pakistani spy drone in Hirangar sector of Kathua district on Saturday morning. The drone was found carrying a large reserve of weapons.

The Border Security Force (BSF) shoots down a Pakistani spy drone in Hirangar sector of Kathua district on Saturday morning. The incident took place around 5 am. The Pakistani drone was carrying several weapons that were recovered along with the drone.

A patrolling party of 19 Batallion of the BSF found the 8×8 drone (from blade to blade) Pakistani drone flying near the international border in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district and shot 8-9 rounds to bring it down.

The drone was spotted at an approximate distance of 250 metres from the International Border at Rathua village in the vicinity of Border Out Post (BOP) Pansar.

A highly sophisticated rifle, two magazines, 60 rounds and seven grenades were being sent on the drone, supposedly meant to be delivered to Pakistani agents, the officials said quoting preliminary information.

These are the weapons that have been recovered from the drone:

  1. Hexa copter: Size: 8 feet × 6 feet. Batteries: 04 (22000 MAH). Radio signal receiver: 01
    2.7 grenades (M-67)
    3. 1 M4 US-made carbine machine
  2. 2 magazines
    5.60 5.56 rounds of cartridge

Official sources said, the 8×8 drone (from blade to blade) was spotted hovering in the skies by a BSF party on patrol duty at Rathua village in the vicinity of Border Out Post (BOP) Pansar around 5.10 am.

Meanwhile, the officials said Pakistani rangers fired a few rounds on Babiya post in Hiranagar sector around 8.50 am.
