Vizag AR Circle Inspector (CI) Swarnalatha was reportedly arrested in a money extortion case. She had been arrested for extorting Rs 15 lakhs from two ex-Naval officials under the pretence of a 2,000 rupee note exchange.
According to Tv9 Telugu reports, a gang of four was arrested in Vizag, including an Armed Reserve (AR) Inspector Swarnalatha, on Friday. Swarnalatha is currently working as Home Guards ARCI. She now serves as the Vice President of the Andhra Pradesh Police Officers Association.
According to authorities, the accused agreed to give police Rs 90 lakh in 500-rupee notes in return for 2,000 notes worth Rs 1 crore. They further claimed that Swarnalatha, a home guard CI and vice-president of the Andhra Pradesh Police Officers Association, led the gang.
Kolli Srinu and Sridhar, two retired naval officers, spoke to the police after realising they had been cheated out of their money.

Vizag, Armed Reserve CI Swarnalatha is acting in the movie AP 31 Number Missing. In the film, she is playing the role of a police officer as in real life. The tagline of the poster is Love and Suspense Thriller Movie.
As per news reports, Swarnalatha deeply wanted to appear on the big screen. A leader reportedly told her he would give her a chance in a movie, so she practised dancing.
Eager to appear on the big screen, she hired a choreographer and practised dancing. A video of Chiranjeevi doing steps to songs is now doing the rounds on social media. In the video, she danced to the famous song ‘Abbani Teeyani Debba’ from Chiranjeevi film.
